From The Columbus Day Festivals to the Charles Regatta, here’s a look at some of the free events in Boston during the month of October.

4th Annual Boston Local Food Festival
Join the Sustainable Business Network of Massachusetts on the Greenway for the nation’s largest local and sustainable food hub. This free outdoor festival will showcase farmers, local restaurants, food trucks, specialty food producers, fisher folks, and organizations focusing on healthy food and fitness from New England.

Columbus Day at Christopher Columbus Park
ParkART presents a variety of music and entertainment by local groups, plus family activities to celebrate Boston’s Italian heritage and the Columbus Day holiday.

Boston Book Festival
Visit one of Boston’s greatest fall festival at Copley Square where more than 150 presenters will host author talks, writing workshops, live entertainment, and more! If you are feeling brave enough you can even submit a piece to Writer Idol, where it will be read out loud to the audience and a panel of judges.

Head of the Charles Regatta
Join the 300,000 spectators to watch the 8,500 rowers at the worlds largest two-day regatta!

12th Annual Pumpkin Float
Come watch as dozens of jack-o’-lanterns are carved out, lit up, and sent down Davenpart Creek for the 12th Annual Pumpkin Float.
